Chartwell Orchards Retirement Residence

The time always comes when a resident must move on to a different level of care...moving out of The Orchards was a difficult decision for my mom and our family. For almost two and a half years the staff and I worked hard to give mom the best care possible. She was well taken care of and if I had my druthers she would still be there. Thank you to Anthony and his staff (especially the Active Living staff) for everything you helped me with. May you continue to provide excellent care to everyone that chooses to call this place home.

My stepfather has been in the Memory Care unit at Chartwell Orchards for over a year now, and I couldn't be happier with the care and compassion provided to him by the staff and management of the facility. Tatianna, Dani, Irene, Shiva, Jennifer, Cassie -- and so. many others -- are always responsive to his needs and to any concerns I might have. They deal promptly to any health emergencies, and take immediate and appropriate action. Even if they have the smallest concern about my stepfather's health or wellbeing, they let me know so we can make whatever adjustments are needed. Tatianna consistently goes out of her way to accommodate my stepfather's interests -- even bringing music for him to enjoy while he's in his bath. He absolutely adores her (though he assures me that he's not looking for a long term relationship. 😂) Dani monitors his health and makes good suggestions for improvement. Irene brings a sweet, quiet calm as she tends to him. Combined with the excellent support of the local LHIN reps, Chartwell Orchards offers outstanding comprehensive care to dementia patients who might otherwise be lonely or forgotten.

My mom has spent respite time more than once at the Orchards.
Mom always says "Well, if I can't stay at home then this is a nice place to be." That is always so great to hear when I know that Mom is doing well when she's there. There is great comfort in knowing that she's being looked after and that she's making herself at home. Thanks Chartwell Orchards and I'm sure we'll be seeing you again soon.

I am not one to write reviews, so when I do it is because something is exceptional. And I want to compliment the staff at the Orchards for their excellent support to my father. Dad needed additional help and the Orchards has been highly responsive in addressing his increasing needs. From the wait staff to the nursing team to the maintenance fellow to the personal care workers - they all seem aligned and connected into the agreed personal care plan. They seem to communicate amongst themselves to manage the support program to best advantage - for the resident ! And the front desk team are able to coordinate all the communications, messaging, information and instructions from both residents and visitors to ( and from) the care staff.

Well-aligned, competent, compassionate teamwork is in evidence at the Orchards - and that's an observation from me = an experienced corporate executive who has seen the good (and the bad) in teams throughout my career.

I was hired by Chartwell Orchards for the position of Assisted Living Manager in April 2022. I had heard mixed reviews about Chartwell as an employer and had some concerns about whether this would be a good fit for me. I can say without hesitation that from my first day until my last day I was so pleased that I chose to work there. The leadership team was patient and supportive with my training, and it was clear that my concerns were unfounded. The team that works at the Orchards are an amazing group of people to work with. I did leave the position, however it was due to my family relocating 4 hours away. It was a very difficult decision to make because I really did love working there, but I had to do what was best for our family. There are other Chartwell retirement residence’s out in the Kingston area and Anthony (GM) offered to do what he could to help find a position out that way when I was ready.
I will definitely miss my team, and the residents and am so glad I took the chance on the Orchards.
