  Hard to over-praise; there are very few shops left where one can purchase from a wide range of repertoire and recordings, If you listen to 'Building a library' a weekly feature of Record Review on Radio 3, then you'll know that sometimes, the reviewer's top (and often only recommendation) is either a download, deleted, or part of a large boxed set (e.g. a couple of years ago, Brendel playing a Beethoven Sonata, only available as part of a complete cycle of all 32!) Here at CBR you can browse, select and purchase from wide range of secondhand compact discs (and also LP's) of classical music; often ones which are no longer in the catalogue; all in excellent condition and offered at startlingly-low prices. It's more like an enthusiasts' club than a shop; the atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the owner of the business (Mr Stephen Coster) is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. DO pay him a visit, but please bear in mind the opening hours are: - Fridays and Saturdays only, mid-morning to approx 5.pm. Adrian Falks (Chairman of Croydon Recorded Music Society)

  A wonderful treasure trove of glorious, rare and fabulous CDs. Mostly classical, but no exclusively. Lots of opera and wonderful attention by the guys in residence and a cup of tea while you browse. Love it!

  I was first a customer of "Classical Bargain Records" when they were in the Arcade, Eltham High Street, twenty five years ago and I have remained a customer at their shop now beside New Eltham Station. Stephen Coster, who owns and runs "Classical Bargain Records", has an encyclopaedic knowledge of recorded music, in vinyl and every other format. I have never known him at a loss to find a recording if asked.

  visited this shop with my daughter looking for 7 inch vinyl , spent way too long in this very friendly shop , they were very helpful and i bought loads of records , looking forward to returning when i next visit new eltham
