I absolutely love Dr Shaik. She does not weight shame but instead works with you to find the best treatment plan for you. She was the first doctor that I saw that asked if I had seen my numbers and understood what it meant. She went over what was going on in my body and why she believed the treatment she was doing was the best for my circumstances. I have also seen her PA twice and have liked her as well.
I love Dr. Shaik so much. I saw her for a few years and she is great. Her practice grew and had to move to a larger location and she hired more doctors. I haven't been here for about a year because I became pregnant and had to see a MFM throughout my pregnancy but when I came back I saw Mindy Shelley and I thought she was absolutely wonderful. I have T1 Diabetes and my blood sugar went low during my time with her and she made sure I drank my juice before leaving. When I got home I got a call from Dr. Shaik's office and it was Mindy calling to ask if I'm doing ok and if my blood sugar is back in range. That was so incredibly sweet of her to do that! I never had a doctor do that before. I think I saw Mindy one more time before I started seeing Jesse Lyon and I think he's great too. He takes his time with me during my visit, asks if I have any questions/concerns about my diabetes/health and addresses them all, and I can tell he's studying my blood sugar trends on his computer to help me fine tune my insulin dosages so I have tighter control. I don't ever feel rushed during my appointments and I really appreciate that. It's hard to find a doctor who makes you feel like your health and well being is valued and cared for. The only reason why I'm giving four stars is because there was a time where communicating with the front office staff was difficult. I don't know who the lady was but I knew the conversation wasn't going to be pleasant when I heard her answer the phone because she was rude. I haven't heard or seen her in a while so maybe she isn't there anymore.
I have been a Type 1 diabetic for almost 30 years now and have seen MANY endocrinologists through the years. Unfortunately, finding a doctor who will listen, without judgement, and will treat you as a whole person (not just the disease) is difficult to find in AZ. That is until I started seeing Dr. Shaik, 6 years ago. She is a doctor with heart and smarts. If you’re a fellow diabetic, you likely know what it’s like to fall off the Diabetes management wagon and not have all of your data together or sugars completely under control, only to dread the visit to your endo knowing you’ll be lectured and given looks of disapproval, but you have to go bc you need the prescriptions. I’ve never felt this way with Dr. Shaik. She and her PA, Mindy are both non-judge mental and take an educational and collaborative approach. I highly recommend Dr. Shaik and her staff.

A year ago my AC1 was over 12...she listened to my struggle and attempts to get it under control. Any other dr would have put me on insulin right away. Dr Shaik worked with me on prescribing the best treatment plan. I just saw her today and am humbled blessed and grateful for the results.AC1 is now a 6 and blood sugar level below 100...versus 400 a year ago. I travel from an hours drive away to see her...well worth it!!!
