Ajo Al's

Fernando, our waiter, made our dining experience truly enjoyable. This is our sixth time at Ajo Al's and each has been great. In addition to their food, the specialty margaritas are outstanding!! Their awards program makes dining there even more special. Definitely the place to go for Mexican food at its best.

The interior really captures the culture and history of Scottsdale AZ. THE FOOD IS CALSSIC AZ "MEXICAN." I would really call it Sonoran. I've been eating here since the 80's but haven't been for some time. The interior is new to me which may not be new but the point is that they have kept the restaurant nice and are not resting on reputation. The food and service were great. We had a Mexican pizza and Pollo con Queso to share. Neither of these items are likely to be found in Mexico but as a Phoenix native I would argue that both are authentic Sonoran food.

Loved the Shrimp Fajitas, very flavorful, good size Shrimp and lots of fresh bell peppers (red, yellow, and green) and onions. Refried beans looked old or maybe too much animal fat??, tasted ok. Guac was a bit old, but ok. Marissa did a fantastic job serving a full dining room!👏

If you want to be treated right and enjoy fresh, delicious Mexican food, this is the place! Plenty of parking.
Update: 11-16-21, Chili con Queso-- WOW! Tantalizing! So Delish! One of the best, if not the best I've ever tasted! Tried the chicken fajitas, pretty good, stil love the shrimp the best!
Service was great tonight, even though the place was nearly full. Thank you Maria and Fernando!
Update: 11-14-21 Tried the Street Tacos today and I'm sorry to say I didn't find them that good, just ok. I got two chicken- very dry, not much flavor and very little of the cilantro slaw. I got one of the potato and while it was tasty, it too was dry inside and overly greasy outside- tasted more like a donut. I subbed a salad for the beans and rice and it's a nice size, but wasn't very fresh today.... there's a burnt smell in the restaurant too! Not very appetizing. The chips were also very well done, brown! Idk what's going on but was kinda disappointed in today's visit. Hopefully just an off day! I still recommend this place.🤗

Fantastic food and great portions! Had the prickly pear margarita and fajitas while the wife had a strawberry margarita and potato tacos (soooo good!). Their waffle fries were a favorite with the kids (and us grown ups too :p) Made the drive from Buckeye to try this place and weren't disappointed. Will definitely be back!
