Estrella Gardens Assisted Living

My mother-in-law Lenore, who turned 100 in April, has been living at Estrella Gardens for the past 4 months. The care she receives is outstanding! Kathy Knudson, the owner/manager is a registered nurse. She is always looking out for the best interests of her residents, which is limited to a maximum of 10 individuals.

We moved Lenore to the Valley 2 1/2 years ago. She suffers from dementia. we placed her in another, larger, assisted living facility's memory care unit in Scottsdale. However as her condition worsened, the larger facility was unable to provide the more personalized care Lenore requires.

We were so very fortunate to find Kathy and Estrella Gardens. Each resident receives individualized care and attention. Lenore has her own room with a big screen tv. Each resident has a call button to ring for assistance when needed. Lenore also has 2 separate bed alarms which go off when she gets out of bed at night (or any other time) to alert staff so she doesn't have to call for help and so they can make sure she is safe and doesn't suffer a fall, which could be devastating in a person of her age.

The facility itself is large, well appointed, and very comfortable. Special care was taken when the house was renovated so there are no stairs or stumbling blocks for the elderly. The large common room has several recliners and a large tv, where residents can congregate, relax, and even nap. Meals are provided with special care to accommodate individual resident's dietary requirements. The yard is very spacious, well kept, and includes numerous fruit trees, spaces for residents to sit outdoors, weather permitting, and a deck surrounding the house.

Kathy is also excellent at communicating with family. The facility is certified and has on call medical staff and lab so residents medical requirements can be handled without leaving the building. Kathy and the team provide recreational activities, exercise therapy, games, and puzzles to keep residents sharp mentally and physically.

We really believe that if we hadn't moved Lenore to Estrella Gardens when we did, she wouldn't be alive today. We highly recommend Kathy and her team at Estrella Gardens if you want the best possible care for your aging loved one.

A good friend of mine needed placement in an Assisted Living Home a few months ago. I toured several homes and I knew my search was over when I met Kathy at Estrella Gardens. The care he receives is wonderful, Kathy and staff are caring and my friend often says: "there is no better place for me".

Ammy’s Place has been a wonderful unexpected find in an Assisted Living Home for my mother in law who is 96 years of age and requires assistance for every need of daily living. Finding this home has brought our family peace of mind in that we feel confident that mom is getting the best care and attention possible. She has expressed that she is happy, enjoys the meals, and the caregivers are
great and attentive to her needs.

The owner/manager, a registered nurse, is a very caring person and it is obvious to me that she enjoys elder care and wants to provide a safe and loving home for those under her care.

The home is beautiful, spacious, and has lovely outdoor patios and gardens for the residents and families. Fun activities are provided for the residents related to their interests.
I just can’t say enough about the care and those operating Ammy’s Place (Estrella Gardens).

My father stayed here at the end of his life as he struggled with cancer. It was truly a blessing! I'm so grateful to the loving and conscientious caregivers who made him feel as comfortable as possible. He raved about their wonderful homemade food and enjoyed the tiny dogs that also live in the home. The home is truly like a palace or paradise both inside and outside. I could not have hoped for a better assisted living facility; it is the best.

This home is a true blessing to our senior community.

I was able to see how this loving environment changed the demeanor of a gentleman that just gave up, to someone that truly enjoyed the time he had left.

He was smiling again, and embraced his new home.
