Sonoran Sky

My son went here 1st thru 6th. Really good teachers during his time there. Mr. Dawson is extremely nice and always treated my family well. Only things I have an issue with is a 20 minute recess once a day and P.E. once or twice a week. Also I dont have much experience in this area, but I think the PTO and room parents went above and beyond for the students and school during my son's time at SSES. If we still live in the area my daughter will attend when she starts school in a few years. Highly recommend this school, especially if your child gets into the gifted programs they offer.

Sonoran Sky in Scottsdale is a wonderful, challenging and nurturing environment. We are extremely happy with this school.

Pros: The Principal is warm and very engaged. The PTO is extremely active and focused on supporting the teachers and students. They just approved funding a dedicated science lab and a separate outdoor classroom. The school focuses on teaching the individual child and works very hard to make sure each student is being appropriately challenged. They also devote time to character building. The teachers are very experienced and work as a team - so you get a whole staff educating your child not just one teacher. When you walk through the halls - they know you and your child. There is a full-time nurse and numerous full-time gifted options at all grade levels. Diverse student body. The enrichment programs are amazing. Dedicated "specials" teachers in art, music, P.E. and technology are phenomenal.

Cons: There are no windows in classrooms and I wish they had longer recesses and/or more P.E. Foreign language is not a part of the standard curriculum (but, it is offered as an enrichment)
