Pinal County Park West

I love this place my friend and I usually frequent this place for its quaint and quietness, also it has very little light in the sky reflecting so you can see all of the meteor showers and globular clusters to the naked eye in the sky. One thing it does lack is lighting for all spots of camping. Only some campsites have light.

Most people drive way too fast through this park! There are no posted speed limits here, so they can do that, right? ...other than that, I love this place!

For a not so far off the beaten path park, yet away from the city this nicely kept park is a little hidden gem. You can camp overnight with the proper permits available at the self pay station. Day use is FREE! They have really nicely kept picnic areas spread throughout the park and really clean Porto potties at most picnic sites that were stocked up with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Now, if your expecting a grandiose landscape and beautiful mountain terrain it can be a lil disappointing. However, the desert has a beauty of its own that any outdoors person can appreciate so just be sure to fire up your Chevrolegs.... and hike around the area on its well marked trails. If that's not enough, just down the road you can find plenty of state trust land to venture on. Just be sure to purchase the proper permits to be out on this ground, it's very affordable and give you access to literally thousands of acres to enjoy. One last note, ok maybe two last notes, there appeared to be a large structure for a multiple family and friends get together and bring some trash bags to cart your stuff back to a trash can, as the park doesn't have a place for garbage to go. My dear wife and I went camping here at Pinal County Park West in January 2020, from the 8th to 11th.
We recently purchased a used class “A” motorhome, we needed a “shakedown” cruise. I have often seen this park from the 8 freeway going to and fro San Diego. It’s not far from our home in Tucson and it looks kinda cool and remote yet close to civilization. The cost to stay overnight is $10.00, there is no electrical hookups, no water, no sewer, no dump station, no restrooms and no fire rings. There is a super nice camp host (Linda), mostly level camp sites that are spaced far apart. New Ramadas with nice picnic benches and charcoal grills. We loved this place, it’s very scenic, nice dark skies, mostly quiet (some far off interstate noise) and nice trails to walk around enjoy the Sonoran Desert landscape. We will be back again to chill out and dig the desert vibes.

We stayed overnight in space 19. Very clean and private, gorgeous views and clean private porta potty. In the morning, college student launched a NASA funded weather balloon from the group camping area. Very helpful Camp host!
