Sandy is very knowledgeable about gophers.
I panicked when branches of my backyard rose bush started disappearing into the ground over the course of a few days, and called Sandy with a ton of questions. When I asked for immediate help, Sandy promptly showed up within few hours the same evening, analyzed the patterns of dirt mounds in the yard and setup multiple traps.
She patiently explained every step of her work, and the strategy behind where she placed the traps. Her strategy worked because when she pulled out the traps after a few days we a saw a big dead gopher.
Now my rose bush is back to life and my garden is thriving.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to write this one. The negative commentary gave us pause about using Sandy’s service. But her technique made such sense that we were curious enough to give her a try, and we are glad we did.
Because we have a small lot, Sandy charged us $500 for the job. Yes, it is a lot of money, but her techniques require expensive equipment, time, an expert knowledge of gopher habits, and they work. Our gophers were gone in 3 weeks.
Background:
We bought our ¼ acre lot home as a fixer upper. It needed new irrigation and plantings, among other things. Once we invested in the landscaping, the gophers moved in, or, at least, became evident to us. So it’s important to realize two things about our experience. First: we have a small lot, and secondly, because our irrigation is new, we were dealing with a new infestation of gophers. It was not a long established den and tunnels. I can imagine that an established den would require a longer time, and might cost more.
Before she came, Sandy told us to set out ant poison around the yard. It’s one thing to get the gophers to leave; it’s another to keep them away. Ants will undo Sandy’s effort to keep gophers away for good.
Sandy uses satellite images of our yard, her own underground lights and cameras to make a mental map of the tunnels and dens. She set her traps, and asked us to stay away, pets included, out of the back yard for the week, to leave the traps undisturbed.
When she returned the following week, Sandy pulled out a dead gopher and cut it up. She placed the remains in strategic areas to scare the survivors away, and lure others to new locations where she set more traps.
When Sandy returned the third week, she declared that the gophers were gone. She asked us to contact her if any new mounds appeared. So far, so good.
Sandy has a family and a business. Sometimes, she can’t make the time she scheduled. She would text us about a different day or time. We were fine with that. It is our home. We’re not going anywhere. She brought her son with her. He was respectful and helpful.
Like most desert animals, gophers are resilient creatures. Success requires cooperation. We had to do our part to get rid of ants, and stay out of the yard while her traps did their job. As long as you are willing to pay a reasonable wage for her time and experience, and as long as you can accept that she has a family to care for, and she may need to reschedule her visits, she will get the job done. She protected our home investment, without poisoning our soil with arsenic or other toxins. I can’t praise Sandy enough about her expertise and her methods. It was money well spent.
