In 2007, with mobility challenges on the horizon, my parents moved from their three level home in Oakland to Waters Edge Lodge, near us in Alameda. They lived and thrived at Waters Edge until early 2016 when, well into their nineties at that point, they needed an increased level of support. Based upon how well the Zimmerman family and their first rate staff at Waters Edge took care of them for nearly a decade it was an easy decision for our family to choose Elders Inn for the next phase of their lives. Though my father passed peacefully under hospice care at Elders Inn later that year, my mother, now in her 102nd year, is still there and doing amazingly well. To a person, Elders staff has become our family too - just as my parents have been to each of them for so many years. And while the challenges of the pandemic this past year and a half have been significant, there is absolutely nowhere else that our family would rather that she be.

After having my father, mother-in-law, and numerous family friends reside at Elders Inn I would highly recommend the facility at Elders Inn in Alameda. The flexibility of care was phenomenal as the needs and health of our loved ones were constantly changing. The communication and compassion was always their to help keep us well informed 24/7. The open door policy to handle any of our concerns was a welcomed priority. Currently, my mother-in-law is a resident and she has been getting superior treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic. The facility has done a great job insuring the safety and health of its patients.
I personally, based on my experiences over the past 5 years, would not hesitate to recommend Elders Inn to other families.
    Kind Regards,
    BE

My mom was at Elders Inn for the last three years, and even with the confusion of Covid, the staff and family provided a professional, safe and loving environment. She turned 100 last year just as quarantine was imposed, and when our large family party was cancelled, Marie and everyone there helped us create a fun, distanced celebration. Mom loved it. We will always be grateful for all they did for her.

Our 99 year old friend has been at Elders Inn for more than 6 years. It was no longer safe for her to be home alone. Prior to the pandemic my sister or myself was there each day, various times of the day. The staff balances safety and independence so well. In addition to visiting our friend we naturally got to see many of the other residents, in activites, hanging out in the Cafe, or out in one of the beautiful garden patios. The nursing staff have always been very professional, and very thoughtful. Safety and comfort have been a priority. Our friend began in one level of care. After about 4 years she needed more care. Her room and the surrounding "neighborhood" for both of these was roomy and with large windows looking out at cheerful spaces.
We are so grateful our friend has such good care, in a lovely space. It was a real benefit that OT, PT is available on site. Our friend has been helped by these a handful of times over the years.
