Devout Coffee

What an awesome coffee shop! Refined yet utilitarian and completely beautiful

Devout is one of my favorite roasters! I can't always make it out to this location, but I stop by when I'm in the area. It's fantastic light roast single origin high quality coffee. They do pour over from a bunch of different beans. In the back of the shop you can see their roaster. It was implied that you can watch them roast there, but I haven't been by when that's happening yet. There are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your coffee, whether or not you brought your laptop to get work done too.

Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area or passing through nearby!

I've always been a fan of this place, ever since the two brothers opened up a tiny shop that was running off a cart, and you could see the pour-over setup in the window as you were passing by.

The set-up has changed ever since the actual store came together. They have nice merch, their coffee beans are packaged directly, and employees come and go as the seasons change.

Espresso here never disappoints, although the dialing in and pulls could use work depending on who's behind bar for the day. For the most part, it's drinkable and sometimes quite divine, if the grind is especially dialed in.

What I don't like is how packed and tight this place can feel when it's busy. Slow days are hard to come by and the rare hour that you'll be able to pop in at a non-crazy time is less and less. Students come here to study, friends come to chat, families pop in with huge strollers. The door-space where the entrance meets the register is kind of awkward, and when the lines get too long, it's hard to find a place to wait in line without blocking the doorway.

Recent visits have made me a bit sad, due to all the flies that buzz around. I'm not sure if anything can be done, but it's quite disheartening having to drink your coffee amidst insects that are quite dirty in nature.

I'll always stop by for the beans on rotation and to check in, but I think an actual visit brings me less joy than it did in the years past. Oh well, such is life.

The coffee is good. But I didn't see any pastry sadly. I hope they do care more about the food to pair with the coffee cos I believe not all customers just want to sit down and drink coffee only.

The coffee shop is located in an old town so you can also take a short stroll around and enjoy some antique stores.
