  My son took his wife and friends for a ride in my pontoon boat. Later that day an alarm sounded and the boat stopped running. It was dead in the water. Fortunately he was towed in by some friendly Delta boaters. After my son explained what happened I was very concerned the engine seized. The boat motor was serviced by Chad, of Chad's Mobile Marine Service, Discovery Bay last season.
  
  I trailered the boat to Diablo Marine & Trailer Service. The staff and owners were very professional. After leaving the boat, they called me a few days later. I totally expected to hear that I would need a new outboard motor costing several thousand dollars. When I arrived to pick up the boat, Dave explained that an oil filter designed for Yamaha motors was being used on my Johnson motor. He further said the Yamaha filter could not be tightened securely and loosened up over time causing oil to be pumped out where the filter was loosely attached. Dave replaced the Yamaha filter with one that was made to fit my motor and the boat runs perfectly fine. I will bring my trailerable boats and trailers to Diablo Marine & Trailer Service from now on.

  I had my boat in a shop in Vallejo for 6 weeks and they had done nothing except fill me with excuses to repair it. I took my boat back from them and went to Diablo Marine on a friday afternoon. On Saturday morning they called me with a quote.Monday afternoon I received the second call from them telling me my boat was ready. The boat works like new again and I also saved over $800 for the quote from the place in Vallejo. Very satisfying experience with a great staff and mechanics.
