Returning to school in your 50s is daunting for anyone, but the people at WLAC have made the process easy and stress free! Plus they have programs that work directly in concert with union locals to give you better education and great contacts for when you graduate! I'm in film program to be an editor and it works directly with Local 700. No other college in the area does this with film.
I chose this college because it was ranked as one of the top ten community colleges in California for online courses. Diversity is great, many certificates and degrees offered, and the counselors I’ve spoke with over the phone were polite and helpful.
They wait until more than a month into the semester to process student loans - and the form should specify that it’s for the year. I filled it out thinking it was only for the semester. No return emails from financial aid in the matter.
Overall I would recommend WLAC, but their admissions and financial aid offices need to work on responding to students.
Just very difficult to find the auditorium! I was attending an event @auditorium & several cars also were going in circles trying to find it! They need more visible large signs w/auditorium on it! Staff to be visible guiding cars in to their destination.
The college is small and basically has no cars. It’s a nice place to go for an exercise walk but the track and baseball fields were closed when I went so I was a little sad I couldn’t use those facilities. Other than that the streets are well paved and the campus is bike friendly pedestrian friendly
Went for the AAOI welcome black events, was great, was able to admire the lovely field and beautiful places it had, they followed the CDC rules, nice staffs and students, two celebrities came, they were special guest so it made it more interesting. All in all I loved my experience there and I could go there to get some cool pictures you know background and all, I am a model 🤣😂in case you were wondering.
