Carpio Jiu Jitsu

Great school, I'm only on my 3rd week but can tell by the quality of the students if you you want to step up your bjj game this is the place to be ,don't be afraid to be humbled here!

Professor Gustavo Carpio has what I call Invisible Jiu Jitsu. This skill is not easy to acquire. Every move is explained with some of the most advanced details that not all Professors in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners will bother to mention.
He’s a great high level instructor and has amazing Coach’s, Competitors, Leaders.

This is an excellent jiu jitsu school that has a rare combination of high level grappling and friendly/supportive environment! I've been training for 13 years so it's fair to say that I've been through and seen my fair share of BJJ gyms; some good and some not so good.
First off, Professor Gustavo Carpio is the main reason why I make my 55 minute commute from my home to his gym. He's at the world class level as a jiujiteiro practitioner and I've been a fan of his for quite some time. He's laser focused when teaching his lessons, breaking down typically complex concepts into easy-to-retain memorizable chunks with clear details. The key here is DETAILS and that comes from his wisdom and experience in the sport. He's very attentive to his students while they are practicing/drilling, giving 100% effort back towards their progress, and personal goals. There's a good mix of hobbyist practitioners and serious competitors and what's nice to see is that they are welcoming and supportive of each other. In my opinion, I surmise that all roads lead back to Professor Gustavo and his positive attitude and gracious demeanor that creates an environment for everyone to feel comfortable and thrive. The coaches and staff are very cool here, as well.
Personally, coming into this gym (its been almost 10 months) and committing long term, I can now see that the student retention is high at this gym: they stay here not only for the high level instruction but also for the great camaraderie.
Other important things that checked my boxes: Clean mats = Yes! Pure grappling gym = Yes! Good kids program = Yes! (the future) Flexible schedule offering both Gi and No-Gi classes 7 days a week? = Yes! Good music playing on the speakers? Lots of parking? Plenty of live sparring? Cool logo, gym motto, and merchandise? Yes, to all of the above!! I like style and I want to rock the gear of my gym with pride.

Gustavo is a top class instructor. He is well known and highly respected in the jiu jitsu community. He is actively involved in world class competitions that operate at the highest level against the fiercest of competitors. Gustavo is in that category of fighters and is able to transfer to his students the knowledge he gains from these experiences. This means you’re being taught how to defend and attack the most current techniques and fighting styles.
When you take part in Gustavo’s classes, you are presented with well calculated, high percentage techniques that help you establish control of your opponent, in an environment that continuously stimulates growth and learning. The depth of the jiu Jitsu you learn in this gym is similar to the depth of moves Bobby Fischer has on the chess board. You’re several moves ahead of your opponent and you’ve got a response for all their advances and attacks!

Amazing gym for anyone with desire to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu!! Friendly and knowledgeable professor who is extremely high level! He explains every position in a step by step way that makes it easy to absorb and learn quickly. Great place for both competitors and casual practitioners!!
