My son is very happy at LFNS💛
I would not trade it for anything, it is the best preschool in Los Angeles.

The best. The best teachers. The best kids. The best parents.

The heart of the school is it's director, Ms. Marion. Once a parent at the school, she has now been the director for over 20 years. She also has extensive training in child development and in another life was an elementary school teacher. She is kind and nurturing and fun, and does an excellent job of setting clear boundaries for the children.

Another big plus is that I found that the school is more or less drama free. There aren't cliques. There aren't factions. Everyone is on the same team and work to make together to make sure the children grow and blossom.

It should be noted that while the school is less expensive that other schools, even less expensive than some co-ops. However, you are required to be a parent-helper at the school once a week, and that is a big commitment. In addition to the work-day, there are monthly evening meetings, fundraising requirements, and families are assigned a job, such as being in charge of the school library or school photographer. It isn't all-consuming with your time, but it isn't as laissez-faire as some schools. However, I believe that the camaraderie is what helps to make the school so successful.

One last thing I will mention is that many co-ops vet families before allowing them to join. I really really hate this practice. I think it leads to exclusive, homogenous communities. LFNS works on a first-come, first-accepted basis. The result is that you have people from a variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, socio-economic situations, even wide variety of religions. Personally, I love it. My family has made friends with neighbors that I don't think we would have met otherwise because they're so far outside our current circle. And I think allowing your child to experience diversity now sets them up for a lifetime of open-mindedness.

To summarize, I think Los Feliz is great and if possible I would give it six stars.

This school is amazing. Both my children went here and we had wonderful growing experiences both with the school and the community. Once they graduated, my kids were so prepared and excited for Kindergarten. LFNS offers so much support through the co-op community, my children and I have made friends for life. The kids have fun, learn to communicate with each other, and learn basic skills which they can easily build upon for years to come. Ms. Marion's direction of the school is amazing and thoughtful, and the assistant teachers have also been there for years and are so kind and caring. There's lots of involvement like a weekly workday and monthly parent meeting, but that creates such a close knit community where the parents know all the kids names, and everyone is trusted and hardworking. The school has been around for decades and it's a very special spot!

Ms. Marion has been at Los Feliz Nursery School for over 27 years and is an expert in children ages 3, 4, and 5. Her ability to guide them and help empower them to find their voice is a wonderful thing to see. I can't say enough great things today about this school. Best kept secret in LA for preschools. Take a tour and see if this incredible community of parents is somewhere you'd like to be your home away from home.
