I knew that eventually my Mom would need to move into assisted living. I began casually looking a few years ago, but only at the big facilities because I didn't know there were other options. My Mother had a medical emergency in April of 2019, and after her stay in the hospital, she was moved to a skilled nursing facility for 10 days.
The counselor there recommended that we look at Board and Care facilities because they are smaller and have more of a home setting, not a hotel or hospital feel.
My Mom has dementia and I was worried about her waking up and not knowing where she was.
We looked at 10 different Board and Care facilities and most of them were very nice. What sold us on Be Well was that the home was bright, airy, uncluttered, and smelled really clean (not antiseptic but fresh). The staff was lovely. Russ and Elena were warm, caring and knowledgable and the neighborhood was also lovely.
It had all of the elements that I knew my Mom would love. When we brought her into the house for the first time, she was really impressed. She loved the furniture and how bright and open the house is. When I drive her through the neighborhood, she loves looking at all of the beautiful houses and gardens, especially the roses.
I can rest easy because I know she's happy and feels like she's in a home not a facility and because I know she's being looked after. I get text messages from Lisa if she ever notices anything different in my Mom's sleeping, or eating patterns or if she sees any skin irritations, etc...
They deal with her moods and her resistance to showering calmly, with tremendous patience, and kindness.
My Mom is safe, well fed, well cared for, and happy. She feels better then she has in years thanks to the loving people at Be Well.
