  I am 74 years old. I had no prior knowledge of piano and in the last
  6 months I have received instruction in notes, scales, chords and songs.
  Bruce's infinite patience has made all this possible.

  It was obvious as soon as I started taking lessons with Bruce that music was his passion, not just a job. The fact that he's a skilled composer and songwriter adds to his effectiveness as a teacher. In a very short period of time, I became more organized in my learning, found how to use my body weight and movement to make playing easier and more fluid, and became more knowledgeable about Solfa and the Circle of Fifths. Anyone who is serious about learning music would benefit from Bruce's method.

  Bruce is an excellent guide and teacher of piano and music theory. His love of the art is contagious, and is evident in his teaching style, in which he readily adapts his approach to the background and temperament of the learner. Encouraged by the progress and enthusiasm of my son, who started lessons three years ago with Bruce at age 8, I am now taking lessons. Although I love the sound of a piano, I would have never expected taking a second chance at lessons, having been put off from playing by bad childhood memories: the drudgery of learning from a play-it-by-note teacher, and an older brother that played nothing but ragtime (Sorry Scott Joplin). I’m very grateful for the opportunity to give my son a much better musical vantage point.
  
  From the get-go, taking lessons with Bruce is a rewarding experience. His theory-guided approach brings music alive, and foster’s creativity and growth in the learner. By getting to know the piano through chords, scales, progressions, and harmonies, I am improving my understanding on how to bring the tunes in my head alive on the piano. Feeling how the sound is enriched through tempo, dynamics meter, is a new and wonderful experience. I hadn’t realized how much I learned just from participating in my son’s lessons. My son didn’t start reading notes until after a year of playing and establishing a fairly lengthy playlist of songs. And we mustn’t forget learning the art of proper technique! Bruce is a stickler, but it’s so very important!
  
  Most teachers start instruction by barricading the student from the instrument through the practice of reading someone else’s notes (a.k.a. sheet music). Bruce strives to teach musical expression of the piano. He can teach a range of music styles, so has students assist in forming their song lists, and composes an arrangement based on the student’s ability. He has helped my son and I in understanding musical expression through improvisation. Where there is a lock, Bruce has found the key and can help his students make the connection. Bruce is a gifted and patient teacher. I highly recommend him.

  Bruce Siegel is an awesome teacher who I beleive can teach anyone to play piano.... and more importantly... ENJOY playing piano!

  I wish I could give Bruce ten stars! I'm 48 and used to take lessons as a kid for a few years, but my interests laid elsewhere at the time. I never took it seriously, and as I got older it was one of my regrets in life. Just recently, I wanted to learn how to play being more motivated this time around. I found Bruce, and I couldn't have picked a better teacher. He is an amazing teacher! I believe his teaching style is the most effective way for someone to learn the piano. I really like Billy Joel, and he has taught me a few of his songs as well as other songs by other artists I love. Within minutes of listening to Bruce play you know he's an amazing pianist. He wants you to play the best you can possibly play, but isn't harsh in the way he teaches. He teaches you not only how to play but how to play with feeling which I believe is just as important. His lesson plan has you work on exercises you need to know and pieces only you would like to work on. At the end of the lesson, he has you take video on your phone of what you've covered for that lesson, so you can refer to it during the week. Right now, we are working on improvisation which only helps you become a better piano player. I've begun to teach improvisation to my 9 year old daughter, who also plays the piano, and it's helped her in her piano.
  
  Bruce has gone way beyond on what I was looking for in a piano teacher. If you have any interest in learning the piano I couldn't give a higher recommendation than Bruce.
