First and foremost, I'll say Bayo is super passionate and cares a lot about helping his clients. He has great energy and is inspirational without being too in-your-face.
This was my first personal training experience. I've been pretty active with other types of workouts for the past five years from hot yoga to crossfit to soulcycle, but have never quite seen the results I wanted so I decided to give personal training a try.
Right from the first consultation, Bayo was very clear about setting expectations. His approach is about a lifestyle change, not just the training. A big part of this was an alkaline/vegan diet. For me, the key was finding a meal I didn't get tired of eating over and over again - apparently that was brown rice, kale, and sweet potatoes!
Bayo is full of good information (diet info, workouts) but I definitely expected it to be shared in a more official fashion. I thought he'd share some websites or email me some guides/PDFs but everything he shared was over text (his primary method of communication). If you needed anything, he was always super responsive.
The workouts themselves stayed pretty basic for me. He had to re-teach me the mechanics of a lot of movements I thought I had down pat (push-ups, squats mainly). Bayo says he doesn't train core specifically but a majority of the movements incorporate your core naturally, which is definitely one of my weaknesses.
A quick note on pricing - packages start at a minimum of 10 sessions (I did 2 session/week). Definitely a splurge for me but anything in the $80-100 range (per session) is pretty standard from what I've seen with LA pricing.
Granted, you won't see much change in a matter of 5 weeks. It takes consistency and time to build transformative bodies! However, the biggest takeaway I had was actually nutrition/diet. I dropped 2-3 lbs per week but unfortunately due to the holidays, I couldn't stay as consistent as I wanted to be. Today, I'm definitely more open to a vegan diet and intend to continue incorporating that into my diet going forward.
Overall, I'm glad I tried the personal training and definitely had a positive experience with Bayo but one-on-one training without anybody else around isn't really for me at the end of the day. I learned that I feed off energy of other people, even if we aren't working out together per se.
