Absolutely stunning. I love woods. Huge redwood trees. You must have a reservation to avoid parking issues. Reservations can be done online from their website. They have a very pretty beach too. Loved it.
It'fun for the 1st hour or so (winter time). Many trails closed and it is pretty plain and shady along the way. But these giagantic trees are magnificent and still worth to see
Muir Woods is a magical place. Realizing how magnificent those trees are should be on a bucket list somewhere. The smell of pine reminded me of the holidays and I would definitely visit again. Don’t forget to buy your parking tickets ahead of time and download your google maps because there is no cell phone service. Once you are there just take a deep breath and be in the moment.
Muir woods is one of the best hiking place we have ever been to.
We have been here twice in December 2017, and recently another visit on 11/5 and 6th.
Each visit we spend around 6 to 8 hours hiking and also enjoy the air of the woods, we have always feel new ventures during each hike.
We will be back~~

We are back again!!
Two of our families flew in from Austin, Texas, and this is our 3rd trip here visiting Muir woods, each trip we spend 2 days hiking the Muir woods, we spend about 7 to 8 hours in the woods.
We usually start early at 8 am and end around 3 or 4 pm, this whole redwood is just so spectacular that we just keep on coming back to visit.
During our last year Christmas trip, my 3 years old son was able to walk about half amount of the 7 hours hiking, this year at age of 4, he was able to walk 90% of the 8 hours hiking.
It is that amazing that all of our kids are in love this place.
A beautiful place for a walk. It is important to know that you need to make a parking lot reservation to park your car. Nice gift shop and a Cafe. The main trail has a slight uphill grade. Side trails look steep but very interesting. You can walk as little or as far as you want. Great location for photography.
