We moved to Riverside in Jan 2002 and I did all kinds of research on different area churches, their doctrine, their mission, their history, etc. My husband and I prayed for it to be super obvious which church God wanted us to be ministered in and the help minister too. We ended up never checking out any other church. It was so obvious that God wanted us here. This church family has been such a blessing to our family all these years. We have an awesome group of imperfect people who love Jesus and trust him as our Lord King and Savior. We believe that God is ROYALTY, the most high king, creator of all. Therefore, God has every right to be in charge, not us. However, we REBELLED and are still rebelling, wanting our own selfish ways. We needed to be RESCUED from our own destruction, which that RESCUER was Jesus Christ, who died in our place when we really deserved the punishment . But He didn't stay dead because only He has the power over the grave and Jesus ROSE AGAIN (was RESURRECTED). Knowing that information, you have a RESPONSIBILITY to RESPOND. Either your reject the truth or accept it. PIlate asked Jesus "What is truth?" when truth was staring him in the face and he didn't even recognize it. I hope that you realize what truth is and I hope to see you here!
P. S. - I was here when Joe was attending. He seemed to be harboring anger and guilt from his last church that he forced a pastor to counsel a couple who was having problems, even though they didn't ask for his help and then blamed the pastor for their divorce and then tried to claim that the pastor was wrong getting paid for a book he wrote instead of donating it to the church, among so many other things, yet he can be a CPA and get paid for his work. Very hypocritical! His friend invited him to our church thinking that Joe had matured. He was a great children's teacher, so I was told. However, to be part of our ministry and use your God given talents, you must be a member. He DESPISED that word and said membership is a cult and all other kinds of things that are said out of anger instead of love. He claimed there is nowhere in the Bible that says the early Christian church had a membership. The Bible also never uses the word Trinity but that doesn't mean it's not implied. However, "we are all MEMBERS of one body" (1 Cor 12:12 & 20-22). We are all to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. Joe was NEVER forced to try to be a member, he just had to be a member to minister. I can never agree with someone who's goal is to tear down a church congregation because they don't agree with his point of view. We are to be encouragers to each other. His family was. Unfortunately HE was not. He was encouraged to find a church that his family as a whole, including him, could minister. However, that was not good enough for him. Toward the end, his nature was sadly so angry I could barely recognize him as a follower of Christ. I wish Joe and his family no ill will but facts are facts: This church family LOVED him but when there is a cancer you have to cut it out and purposely driving over here constantly to cause discord among fellow believers is wrong. Joe, I still pray for you and your family. I hope you found a church that let anyone just plug in without vetting them and caring about their congregation as a whole.. But the Bible is very clear about membership, appointing, elders, deacons, deaconesses, etc. He and his friends that left with him could've allowed God to use their talents here but unforgiveness and anger do not a good leader make.
Fantastic place! Very Biblically sound, gospel centered, full of great and loving people!
This church has been such a blessing to my family. It's hard to find Gospel loving, 9 Marks churches who practice what's on paper, but FBC is the real deal. Also, Joe Catcherofmen's crazy review up there is extremely dishonest. FBC considers church membership very important, but has never claimed salvation is dependent on it. Old Joe seems like he might be a straight up kook!
I go to church here and serve with the Youth. It's a really welcoming place that is multicultural and growing.
Great place to worship God.
