Flight Standards District Office

I had a question about getting my Private Pilot Glider add-on rating. I haven't flown for 3 years so do not have a current BFR. Some clubs are insisting that I had to have a current BFR before I could solo or get the add-on.
According to the Riverside office this is not a FAR requirement. The proper endorsement in my logbook by a qualified CFIG would allow me to solo, and the check ride for my rating would qualify as a BFR.
The staff was very helpful and we discussed many related topics. Big thumbs up.

Had a great experience here getting a foreign license verified for a FAA certificate. Nelson, Alan, Carlos, Jaquline and Maria did a great job in helping me get the appointment, and preparing me for the meeting. A lot of other FSDOs closed at the moment due to Covid, but riverside is here to help!

Inspector NLS was incredibly professional and gracious with his time in getting my CFI renewed. He was quick to return my calls and punctual to our meeting. This is my first time dealing with the Riverside FSDO and was thoroughly impressed with how on it they were.

They are taking currently appointments - call to schedule.

My aircraft was subject to an investigation as to the airworthiness.

The investigator was polite and easy to work with, reviewed log books and aircraft.

He was fair and concise.

He was doing his job in all fairness.
