I have three children who went to school in this district. All of them have ridden the buses, home to school, field trips, and athletic trips. I have nothing but great things to say about these dedicated bus drivers. They truly care about the students and take their jobs very seriously. Safety is their first priority. They are underpaid for the great responsibility they have. They have trained many hours to obtain their licenses/certificates. Not just anyone can be a school bus driver. They are continuously learning new rules and regulations pertaining to school bus driving. They first test at DMV for a commercial license, take a course in SB driving, first aid, and written and behind the wheel tests at the California Highway Patrol. It is a long process. And they do so much to retain all of that. Anyone who drives a school bus, doesn't do it for the money, (underpaid) they do it because they love kids, and being behind the wheel.
Have always had a wonderful experience with LEUSD drivers. They have a lot of responsibility driving students around. They don’t get the respect that they deserve . If y’all need a job, I see the sign that they are hiring.
