This review is only for the months of November to early April, otherwise give this place a pass (too hot). In the winter this place is beautiful. It can have some of the best wildflowers in California. There are miles of back country to explore. One of the best state parks in California if not the country. Best experienced if you have a 4WD vehicle.
It is one of the better places in Anza Borrego State Park for wildflower viewing. In south western deserts, some plants bloom when they get a certain amount of rain. The rest bloom based on day length and water received, the super blooms. These pictures are the results of the rain that fell the last 2 months. There should be a super blooms in a few months. Keep an eye on the park website.
Took ride on Rock House Trail. Also hike the wash for approximately 5 miles had great time went doing the week very quite no one around lots to look at great rock hounding area. I took on the drive on my motorcycle to go all the way back it would be best in a 4x4.
Beautiful and underrated state Park compared to joshua tree national Park. It's been a great first time desert experience. Many nice cactuses and nice surroundings. Scenic drive from. San Diego into the park expecially the last bit descending into the valley. Beautiful, worth a visit and very close to the San Diego area.
Absolutely beautiful. Got to do some pretty good off-roading on sand and rock trails. We even forded a steam.
