Encinitas Allegro Piano Studio

This summer I took my three grandchildren for an extended visit to San Diego. In order to continue their music lessons started in San Francisco, we've looked for a good "summer" teacher, and we were very lucky to find Mrs. Vera Lukomsky and her Allegro Piano Studio. In just one month, the children made lots of progress. My youngest boy, a 5-year old, who just started to make his first steps in playing piano, started to play the songs using both hands! Mrs. Vera worked on the development of his rhythm, body coordination, and singing. He was very excited to play other musical instruments, such as a drum and a xylophone, which were part of the teaching process. My 8-year-old granddaughter became very interested in learning the facts about the life of Beethoven, and Mrs. Vera suggested to learn "Fur Elise" as a summer project. This piece is far more difficult than the repertoire she was playing so far. But her enthusiasm was so great, that she learned it in its entirety!

My third grandchild, a 15-year old, did not study music before. So Mrs. Vera started with him from the very beginning and moved him fast. He learned notes with her and worked on correct hands position. Now he is playing simple pieces and exercises with great diligence and interest!

Not only I noticed the fast and impressive progress of my children, but when we have returned home, their parents were impressed and surprised too!

I highly recommend Mrs. Vera Lukomsky as a talented teacher to prospective students of all ages. She is great with children!

Vera has been my son's teacher for over five years. He participated in various MTAC competitions and events such as Bach competition and Certificate of Merit, as well as Mozart Festivals. Vera helped him develop his technique and musicality and exposed him to a wide spectrum of piano music styles through her studio students concerts. Vera is an excellent teacher for any student from the very young age. Her students stay with her for many years.

Four years ago at age 60 I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream and learn to play piano. I interviewed about 12 teachers and auditioned 5. (Adults can do that) My goals were simple, I wanted to play all kinds of music well enough that someone would stop what they were doing to listen to me play. I have found Vera to be the perfect choice. She has an incredible resume of both piano and theory, and her massive knowledge of different music enables her to always suggest a piece that is both challenging and interesting. She has very high standards, but what seems to be unlimited patience. I would highly recommend her to anyone of any age that truly desires for themselves or their children to be able to say, "I can play the piano".

Vera has been an amazing piano teacher for our children. Both of our children started at 4.5 years old and have been with Vera for 8 and 5 years each. Each have different depths of interest and instinctual abilities in piano and Vera recognizes this and adjusts their speed of progression accordingly.

Vera’s teaching method can be described as a combination of traditional theory combined with enabling students to emphasize their individual creativity. Vera emphasizes proper technique and theory early on to lay the foundation for students to play very complicated pieces many years later. She teaches children to understand the theory and how the composer intends it to be played, but encourages students to interpret and play in their own, unique style. Both my husband and I love listening and playing music as amateur musicians with >8 years of traditional training each. After about 5 years of training with Vera, both or our children’s instinctual and music theory knowledge have exceeded ours.

If you are serious about music, interested in your children excelling in and appreciating music to either become a professional musician or just be able to play well for the love of music, Vera is a perfect teacher.

Ms.Vera is by far the best piano teacher we have ever had. My two sons have been attending her studio for over 15 years and are extremely proficient in classical piano playing, reading and ear training. Enrolling them in the Merit program is the best teaching tool. I see their improvement every year as they prepare for the Merit Test in Spring. She is very patient, kind and knowledgeable! Simply the BEST!!!
