Blue Lives Matter,
OPD has a job to do and most of the officers are very professional. They deal with lowest of the low day in and day out and most will treat you with the most upright respect. If your pulled over just look at their side they don't know who you are. It's this easy turn the car off and just sit their with both hands on the wheel keep your seat belt on. After you are contacted tell the officer you are going to reach in your glove box for your paperwork and after that tell him you are going to reach in your purse or back pocket for your license. Just these action alone will put the officer at ease and if you have no wants or legal issues and are sober and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol you will be sent on your way ASAP. They have far more important things to do.
I have had 3 robberies in my new house since January of 2013. On each occasion it was homeless drug addicts. One was a home invasion where I had two young children, my wife and mother-in-law staying with us. The good news is in each case the criminal is now in jail and were repeat offender burglars. They ended up in jail because of outstanding police work, great evidence gathering. On the last occasion a neighbor was robbed. I was a witness to a suspect. The police had me drive by with them and identify the guy. They made it very clear it was just as important to not arrest an innocent person as to capture the crook. I could not make a 100% confirmation of the ID so this suspect was appropriately released. They are responsive, polite and caring. If you are a criminal you are not going to like them
