  There's a beautiful Canyon there called Deer Creek it has Trails through scrub Oak that are just beautiful and the whole area is threatened by development. Please enjoy the trails and do what you can to stop the encroachment

  Hey, San Diegans!
  This land has a good network of biking/hiking trails, and it's only 25 or 30 miles north of downtown San Diego, a straight shot up interstate 5. The trail called Tunnel Four is uniquely shaded by over-arching scrub oaks, much, much larger than the waist high scrub oaks found elsewhere, because these individual trees have not burned in ~100 years, they're easily 15 to 20 feet tall! It's a very special trail, enjoy it!
