  Paul Burd is a master piano teacher- professional, extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about his art. He focuses on technique, theory and artistry while choosing pieces his students are interested in playing. My 14-year–old grandson has learned so much about playing piano and understanding music during the past year. He started as a beginner and now can read music and really play on his own; he played in a school talent show just six months after starting lessons.
  
  Paul truly cares about his students and their progression. He is demanding, expects practice time and dedication from his students, and teaches the technical aspects of playing with proper form. He is always encouraging and patient, yet firm. He introduces new music and techniques in a way that is simple and easy to understand. He also uses humor and philosophy to motivate his students to move forward to build their skills. I highly recommend Paul Burd and The Music Lessons Studio to anyone who wants to learn piano or improve their skills.

  My two daughters have been taking piano classes with Paul Burd for about a year and a half. They started without any knowledge of music and piano, but have learned so much in a relatively short period of time. Paul is very demanding and expects a lot of time and dedication from his students, but the progress definitely shows. He prepared both of my daughters for the Certificate of Merit test which they passed it with flying colors. Paul is a perfectionist and settles on nothing but perfection from my daughters as they learn new pieces. He is a great piano teacher!

  In my youth I took violin lessons up until high school but stop after I lost interest. At the same time my sister was taking piano lessons and I always wanted to learn to play the piano too. After trying to learn on my own (mostly youtube vids) I decided I needed to take lessons. After searching online I came across Paul's website. Reading other students reviews about him got me interested so I contacted him for a meeting. The first meeting felt like an job interview where I asked him about his teaching style/background and he asking me my music background. I told him that if I decide to have him as a teacher, I wanted him to treat me as someone who never took any music lessons and to dictate my lessons based on my progress. I started taking lessons from Paul in June 2016 and I have to say I like his teaching style. Always encouraging and patient yet firm. I like it when Paul talks about how if the system (which is you) is not progressing or making the necessary changes, we should stop and analyze what is not working and make changes to make progress. Paul offers the total package when he is teaching you. Sure reading and playing the correct notes are important but analyzing and "feeling" the piece is also important too. Technique is also important but when Paul teaches you, you don't feel rushed or pressured. He knows each person is different and progresses at their own pace. If I could afford it I would like to take 2 lessons a week with him but the hour spent with him every week is something I look forward to. I plan on encouraging my sister/brother-in-law to have my niece take lessons from Paul.

  My 13 year old son and 11 year old daughter have been taking piano lessons from Paul for approximately 2 years. They have progressed incredibly in all aspects of playing piano and understanding music. Paul is a serious piano teacher who truly cares about his students and their progression. He is passionate. His is demanding. He cares about the technical aspects of playing with proper form. He expects practice and dedication. If you are serious about learning piano, Paul is your man!

  My granddaughter has been studying with Mr. Burd for almost 2 years. He has captivated her interest and although I wasn't sure how truly musical she was, she has made amazing progress, loves the piano and loves attending piano lessons. As a pianist I am impressed with the technique and theory he has taught her. He tailors the music to her interests and values her input. In turn, she plays with enthusiasm. I can't recommend him highly enough.
