  A really great place to stay when you desire to be near everything but not in the middle of it all.
  
  Clean and stylish rooms. Nice views facing the water. Easy access to a park and other amenities in the area. Nice that there are many options to eat and drink at as well nearby.
  
  There was only a random thing that occurred with my credit card as it was attempting to apply the security deposit more than once, but the front desk quickly stopped that and apologized since I had already paid ahead of time.

  I will start by saying some of the negative reviews nearly scared us off from making this our honeymoon destination. I’m very glad I decided to ignore the few negative reviews and pay attention to the overwhelmingly positive ones.
  
  Our experience from the get go was amazing. We arrived four hours before checkin and our room was still be cleaned, front desk lady offered to get us in a different room but advised that our rooms view was worth the wait and she would have it done ASAP if we agreed to wait. We went and grabbed some lunch at this amazing burger spot across the street and checked the area for a couple hours before returning when our room was ready.
  
  The room was amazing. Beautiful view, beautiful everything, CLEAN. During the week house keeping was on point, anything we needed from the front desk was taken care of promptly, and we just love the hotel. We are in North Carolina, but we will be back at some point. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

  We have almost exclusively stayed at Marriott properties for the last 23 years and booked our stay at Pier South from their Autograph Collection. We stayed for 4 days in early May 2019. We definitely recommend this property for a stay anytime. It is directly on Imperial Beach, no boardwalk separating you, and the area is being revitalized.
  
  Before we booked I looked at reviews online and saw a couple very poor reviews that were from supposed Ambassador and Platinum Marriott members. The reviews they left were NOT at all what we experienced. EVERY single staff member we interacted with from the Valet, to the Front Desk, and our Housekeepers were all extremely friendly, professional and have obviously had excellent training in the guest experience which they took to heart. We felt very well taken care of.
  
  Yes the hotel is older and is currently receiving some updates. We loved the unique feel of the older property, the room layouts and especially the ocean front balcony. The sliding shutter doors and ceiling fan in every room gave the feel of Casablanca.
  
  We also walked the area frequent. The local restaurants are great as well as the long pier out into the ocean. We are already planning to stay here again and bring friends along next time!
