  We stopped here while heading south on Hwy 1, exploring the area. We stayed up top and enjoyed the view. Looked like a great/popular stop for dogs!

  It's basically like a human park, but for dogs. Theres so many dogs!! And all off leash. If you plan on bringing your dog, make sure they are well behaved dogs who you have full control over. Otherwise you might embarrass yourself.

  Absolutely amazing place ???? bring doggy bags, plenty of water for your dogs. High tides so be mindful or wet. Ocean changes very quickly. Beautiful views, and friendly dog owners make for relaxing environment. FYI

  My kids and dog love fort Funston. My kids could play on the sand dunes for hours and it's one of the few places I can let my dog off-leash so she can sniff everything and make friends with other dogs/humans. People are actually fairly vigilant about picking up after their dogs--which is nice since I have kids in tow that don't necessarily watch where they are going. On a normal day, there's a nice, big parking lot but right now it's closed due to national park shut-downs. You can park outside and walk in.

  This place is like dog heaven. It's the best off leash area in the bay. If you're not a dog lover you should probably stay away cause dogs run this place. My dog loves running around on the beach and the sand dunes. The hike back up to the parking lot from the beach is pretty intense.
