John came out to fix our Wedgewood stove and oven. Not only did he fix the oven, he checked the whole stove and fixed so many little things that were messed up (oven door wasn't closing properly, etc). He also pulled the base piece off and dusted off the bottom portion. He was really profession, super friendly, and a delight. Clearly he's very passionate about good appliances and insanely knowledgable. He's also an SF native and his dad used to work for Wedgewood so I'm glad to be supporting locals.
I got an appt the next day. I have an old stove and was doubtful the issue could be resolved, and they weren’t selling replacement parts anymore. Lee said there was a small chance, but he got it to work! So grateful for his expertise and saving me having to invest in a new range right now.
I have to agree with everyone else that John is the best. My 20 year old Thermodor range Is biting the dust. They were bought out by somebody and no longer make parts. Nevertheless, he got the electric igniter to stop clicking (I was resorting to pulling the breaker for the range) and he got three of my four burners to work. (He is looking for a part for the 4th burner just in case... because you never know). The bottom line is I am going to have to replace the range top, but he’s bought me some time and I feel like I’ve had a fair assessment of the situation. That’s all I could hope for...and a lot more than one frequently gets.
As I prepare to call John again for another issue with one of our appliances, I'm reminded of how long he's been our repair guy. Since 1998, we've used him exclusively to repair our stoves and ovens. First a vintage O'Keefe and Merritt in our first house, and more recently our 50's Wedgewood-Holly built into the kitchen wall of our current house. He's fantastic, knows these old stoves inside and out, and is careful, meticulous and very skilled.
I love that he keeps these old stoves running smoothly, but remind everyone that he works on contemporary appliances as well and is just as talented. I have a Westinghouse dishwasher that howls for attention. Not too old, but out of warranty for several yearts now, and next on John's repair list for us.
He's great.
The pilot light on our 1950's O'Keefe and Merritt stove went out so we took to Yelp to find someone who could fix it. We are SO glad we found John & Stephanie at Lee's Appliance!
Stephanie was great on the phone while scheduling the appointment. John was friendly and amiable when he came to our home and went far beyond just fixing the pilot light. He checked, cleaned and fixed several other items in addition to the pilot light. He even "schooled us up" on how to keep things in tip-top shape going forward.
We agree with all sentiments expressed in prior 5 star ratings. What a great find. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
