Great opportunity to get out on the Bay to enjoy the beauty of nature! I loved learning to stand up paddle last weekend. I will be a regular this summer honing my SUP skills and getting a great workout!!
Great experience with my friends. You can either rent Kayaks or SUPs (stand up paddle boards). If you are a bit rusty or do not really know what you are doing, they will refresh your basics. They will help you launch and land. They even had a dry pouch so I could keep my phone with me. The staff is nice and understanding. You have plenty of parking space. If you want to discover other water sports, BAIC has the summer learn to row and learn to scull program. Take some friends and go on the water!
People are very friendly, a great way to get on to the water to row or paddle. I prefer to use a dock vs water launch, I like to keep my feet dry:) I see a seal almost every time I go out - nature in the heart of Silicon Valley
Summer programs are underway at Bair Island Aquatic Center (BIAC): Learn to Row, Scull, Kayak, or SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) on the calm waters of Redwood Slough. Close to 101/Woodside exit, free parking, reasonable prices, helpful staff. We've wanted this for a long time, and now it's a reality!
A great place to sweep row, scull, or paddle outrigger canoes. This non-profit organization has basic facilities, many club boats, and lessons for beginners. Bair Island is also a fantastic natural habitat to be in.
