(April 3, 2018, 6:07 pm)This is a great Campground if you're looking to do a two-day sea to Summit backpack trip. Or just a simple backpacking trip in the Portola redwoods or big Basin Redwoods State Parks. Keep in mind there is no water at this Campground. Fortunately we were there after the recent rains and were able to pump water off the side of the road from a ditch. Without this ditch we would have had to hike two miles to opal Creek to pump water. We used a great guy for a shuttle service and paid him $100 a person. Feel free to message me if you would like his contact information for a shuttle.

The route to this camp features Opal Creek, old growth redwoods, panoramic views of the park and really neat rock formations. Lane is available on a reservation system from May 1st - October 31st. Reservations can be made up to 2 months in advance by calling 831-338-8861.

Before starting a hike to Lane trail camp, you first need to check in at the Big Basin Redwoods State Park Headquarters & Visitor Center (15 min parking is available). Overnight parking is available (with a permit) in the Jay Trail camp lot, which is 0.3 miles south of the visitor center on the left (east) side of Route 236.
