I am so incredibly grateful to have discovered Bates Grass Fed Beef after months of searching for a rancher in our area raising steer in a manner that is sustainable and respectful to both the animals and the land. Mr Bates was incredibly kind and answered all of my questions swiftly and thoroughly.

My husband and I waited patiently for 2 months for our half steer to be ready for pick up from Bates butcher partner in Bakersfield and when we finally had our beef tucked into the freezer we couldn’t wait to try a steak!! Our first meal was a gorgeous t-bone we split… holy cow (pun intended) it was every bit worth the wait. Absolutely delicious! There is truly a remarkable difference in taste and it’s evident even in the color of the meat that this animal was at peak health.
