(July 21, 2018, 7:13 pm)Great place to camp, backpack, or just day hike. Only a short hike to the top, but just make sure you follow the trail to the top! The first time I went, I continued on straight and accidentally missed the trail to the top of Mount Pinos. Just make sure to keep left upon leaving the first bit of trail past the trailhead. Great views, cool weather to beat the heat. Highly recommend this weekend getaway!
Also, you can continue on past the top of Mount Pinos (the highest point in Kern County) And hike to the neighboring Sawmill Mountain (the highest point in Ventura County). A great hike! -
