(July 1, 2014, 4:35 pm)I've been taking my 1998 Toyota Camry to Jay's since I moved to Ventura four years ago. I came from Chicago where I was all too familiar with sneaky, untruthful mechanics all too willing to mislead a woman who had little interest in cars other than driving them.
Yes, my car has lots of miles (248,000+) but I decided to keep it going because of its reputation for longevity. I never once was pressured by the guys to do so. In fact, recently Jay said I was pushing it and it was probably time for me to buy another car.
Can you tell how high in esteem I hold these guys? -

(August 26, 2011, 9:55 pm)Great for old carbureted engines because Jay can get them to pass smog testing with a little tuning.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
This is probably common sense but make sure you get a hold of someone on the phone rather than leaving a message. I left messages that didn't get checked but when I spoke with Jay or his employees they were prompt and got the job done. Not really a problem really as long as you know this.
I will definitely be coming back to Jay's for my next smog check!
