Northglenn Police Department and Municipal Court

I visited the Northglenn Police Department and Municipal Court building on a weekday morning, as I had business at the police department side of the building. (Disclaimer - I cannot speak to the municipal court side of the building as I had no business there when I visited.) I needed to file a non-emergency traffic accident report at the counter. The building was built quite recently (less than a year, I think) and it is very inviting, modern-looking, and nicely designed inside and out. There were nobody else present except the PD staff/employees who had already begun their workday. The staff member who took my request to file a report was courteous, knowledgeable, and very kind. The counter hours are 7am-7pm Monday through Friday, so one has a pretty wide window, literally, to conduct business with the police department if you need to do so. Oh, and they have a life-size Harley Davidson police motorcycle displayed in the lobby area - cool!

So, last night, I was waiting forever for AAA to call me back with an update on when they found a driver to come help me stuck on the side of the road in a not so well lit area. After quite a while, family suggested I call dispatch and just let them know I was there so they could keep an eye on me during their patrols. I told dispatch I didnt need an officer, but wanted to let them know I was there. Within about 3-5 minutes, 2 patrol cars showed up. Both officers asked about a spare and jack. They said they didnt want me waiting in the dark and cold any longer and they'd get my tire changed so I could get home since it was almost 11pm. I tried to tell them I was ok waiting and they insisted it wasn't a problem, they wanted to help. It was absolutely freezing last night. Both officers took turns laying in the icy street under my truck trying to get my spare tire unstuck. The jack was not a good one, at all, so it took them a lot more work than it probably should have. After most of the work was done, the hardest parts, AAA showed up! The officers didn't know I was listening through a cracked window, but the one officer covered in dirt, mud, pebbles and ice joked to the officer, "Man, I just washed this uniform." The other one laughed and said, "Me too." Then while AAA was getting their jack, they took turns trying to help the other slap filth off the other's back so they didnt look like they were just rolling around on the ground...they were. They also stayed to help AAA. It was absolutely freezing, I asked if I could take pics to post about one of the many things our officers do that no one ever knows about. Many officers won't or can't help with this stuff anymore because if something goes wrong during their help...they get sued, like vehicle lock outs. These officers were so polite and professional, never making me feel like a burden even though they had to be miserable in the cold and filth. It probably took forever to get warm and feeling back in their hands while they insisted I stay in my warm truck. Thank you to Austin and Austin with the Northglenn Police Department for going above and beyond as you probably often do without notice. I am grateful and so is my family. You are the best! Lisa

This is sad that some rag on the police. NPD has been good to us, especially our daughter with down syndrome who got good Christmas gifts last year from the Northglenn Police Department. I'd rather see a cop give a kid/teen a break than ruin his life with a record or be on probation. We were all kids once too. These guys would run into your home and save you from intruders if they had to,.... risking their life. Give them some space. You guys have my respect. I know I wasn't a very good teen growing up. I've been locked up and still respect them.

I have always been impressed with Northglenn's response time to calls. Anytime there is an issue in my neighborhood or near it their response time is minutes (often 3 minutes or less) whether it's an emergency or non-emergency issue.
