  My son has been studying at ATA for almost 3 years...He arrived a skinny middle school kid who was being bullied at school. ATA has helped him to not only build strength and improve his self-confidence, but it's taught him valuable ways to deal with a bully, and a potential abductor. The mindset at ATA is one of discipline, respect, hard work, and remembering important life values such as loyalty, perseverance, goals etc. At its most basic it's Taekwondo which is an amazing martial art, but it's so much more than that in reality. He has loved going and is more than happy to be a part of the ATA Family. I have been a supporter of this school since my son started, and in a world where people are so quick to be disrespectful, where kids become depressed, where it's easy to forget what learning and discipline are all about this martial art and its methods of teaching are invaluable to young kids, teens, and adults alike. The icing on the cake is that it's FUN!!!!!

  My daughter has been attending ATA in Centennial for several months now. When she started, she was timid and lacked any self-confidence. Since then, she has gained confidence in herself mentally and physically in addition to learning several life principles...goals, honesty, perseverance, & loyalty to name a few. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, the classes are fun, and they also offer parent-night-out, and camps which both kids (my daughter and her brother who is not an enrolled student) love. Our family couldn't be happier with the program.

  This particular ATA school is a gem! Not only is the quality of instruction consistently high but there is a tangible commitment to producing well rounded, fun loving, well mannered, disciplined young people. The instructors are accessible to the parents and are willing to help tackle a multitude of behavioral issues.
  
  My son started TKD three years ago at age 5. Today, I credit this ATA school for his great work ethic, his ability to focus, and his strong friendship/leadership skills. I also appreciation that he is being taught anti-bullying techniques, self defense techniques, and about stranger danger.
  
  Like every other activity or sport, there is a cost - both in time and dollars. Right now, it is worth it.

  4 of my 5 kids have been attending Mr. Shields school for the last 7 months (the youngest isn't quite old enough, but then she will attend as well). I have to say that this has been a phenomenal experience for all of us; I call it my "family therapy" as I have on son with Autism and another with other emotional issues. They have never excelled so well in any other sports/group setting - you are a team but your success is wholly dependent on your work. The instructors are so patient with the kids, so calm, yet still continually challenging them to improve themselves. And the girls (who are traditionally developing) have loved the classes and are learning confidence, self-control, respect, etc... As a mom of multiple kids and kids with special needs, it is a relief to interact with adults that care about my kids and are able to handle whatever outbursts or behaviors may arise and I can just sit back for a minute (or 45) and let not have to intervene. Totally recommend to anyone to give it a try.

  Having been to this school for almost 3 years, I can attest that the school, the instructors, and Mr. Shields himself are of great quality and character. Not only will you learn applicable self defense that is based on real-world situations, you will become conditioned and gain self confidence. My son attends the school as well, at the age of 6. In the 3 years attending, he has developed into a more confident and driven child. He doesn't allow bullying to occur in school, understands the concepts of respect and structure, and is learning much in how to take care of himself. He also absolutely loves the classes and has a blast.
  
  My wife attends the kickboxing classes regularly and enjoys them greatly. Classes are friendly and inviting while also giving her the work out she is looking for. By and large, if you are looking for a school that is warm and family oriented while also giving you proper instruction on technique, conditioning, self-defense, and self-improvement, this is a fabulous location.
