Ancient Bristlecone Grove and awesome wildflowers make this area special. You can also visit the Nature Center to learn more about Mount Goliath Natural Area.
A beautiful stop on the way up to the summit of MT. Evans. A word about that; if you are nervous about heights think twice before driving past Mt. Goliath. The road becomes very winding, narrow and has no guard rails with a steep drop-off. The many bicyclists add to the problems. The edge of the road is crumbling in places. It's worth the effort of course, but please be honest with yourself about your driving skills before trying.
There are rare flowers and plants to see here towards the bottom of Mount Evans. There are restrooms available and park rangers here to talk to you. A pretty nice view as well to see. A small hike is something you will do is you choose to look at everything.
Nice nature center building with information about the flora, fauna, and the importance of the twisted trunks of the bristlecone pine trees. Looped path through them was a nice walk. There was also a path split from the loop that went up the hill but my family did not go on that one.
If you like nature, history and hiking; then I suggest you and your family make the trip. It may not be a bucket list item for some. But, if you're in the area, worth it.
