The camp sites with RV hook ups are very clean and we'll maintained. The park is very beautiful and clean. If camping in tent is your thing, you may want to skip or get something that can stand up to very strong gusts. The grounds keeper mentioned that it can kick up to 60-65mph without warning.
Even though there were more people than I like, the trails were fun, easy to follow Marshall intersections, GPS tracking points, signs describing the flora and fauna, Madeira fun day of hiking. I reall enjoyed the Cougar's Shadow trail. Good elevationand a couple of magnificent views
Great, well marked hiking trails. Really nice and clean facilities. Only down side is that camping is not shady or protected. Good for RVs but not tent camping.
Our camp ground hosts off of the loop with site 44 were amazing and wonderful. We were able to enjoy the campground with their assistance due to faulty equipment. So nice, so caring, so helpful. It was our first time here and won't be our last.
This is a beautiful park, with trails for all abilities. We decided to stop for a few hours on a road trip and it was a perfect choice. It is not too far off the highway. It is easy to get to and there is ample information. The trails are very well marked.
We did a five mile hike and want to return to do the more challenging hikes, which can be 14+ miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 4000 feet. This is not a 14er, so that is unusual.
If you have a day, or just a few hours, check out Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Bring a hat and sunblock, and lots of water. This can be a very hot, dry place. Well worth it!
