Some companies did not even respond to my email posted in their website inquiry form. A chain store quoted a two-week turnaround for this simple procedure. The attitude seemed to be “You need us more than we need you.”

Appearance also is an indicator. No shop where bench repair is done need look like a medical facility, but neatness and organization there suggest professionalism elsewhere. This supplier’s facility showed evidence of a lot of work being done, but without the appearance of a junk shop.
