Grand Z Casino Hotel

I took my wife to Grand Z last night to show her how to play craps and stop throwing my winnings in the slot machines. The guys working the table really took over and explained my strategy and how other people play to keep the odds as even as possible in the casino. She's hooked, we about bottomed out at one point and she went on a 45m run as the crowd cheered her on! Easy comps, free plays, drinks actually being delivered to the table it was just a great experience. It's worth the effort to drive past a few places to get there.

Love this place! Large but perfect size to get a personal touch from the staff. Food was amazing! Rooms are clean and great size! I would recommend this place over and over.

This place is out of the way, especially when you are coming from the ski areas. That said, the road to this old mining town from I-80 is big and well maintained. Rooms are generally a good value and clean. No late-night food options. Nearest gas station is at the start of the road just off of I-80.

I am writing about the hotel, not so much the casino. I am not much of a gambler, but will say the casino looked pretty nice. Had at least one craps table that I saw and a couple of blackjack tables. There were slot type games everywhere - I can't imagine a person would need any more! The location is kind of below Central City, but a quick walk gets you there. Black Hawk is kind of a far walk, but I think some hotels offer a shuttle, maybe even this one, I just didn't need it.
As far as the hotel, we both thought it was quite nice. The room was big and clean, maybe just remodeled (?). Very nice. Big fridge, safe in the closet for all of your winnings :)
The bar was nice - I did spend a bit of time there. The bartender was a great guy and we did eat one meal at "The Grill". Service there was good and for $8.99 I had the all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar which was delish. Not the biggest Casino in the area, but a nice place all the same. On most weekends I think they have live music - I was there during the week, however.

The rooms were clean and setup nicely. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with anything. My only wish is that there was more entertainment options. By the time we got ready to have fun, the band had finished at 10 and there was nothing else to do but gamble.
