Turned on a hand blender with my finger in it. Got it stuck on the blade and trapped in the housing. It was bleeding and painful but not bad. My wife called 911. Dispatcher was super kind and efficient. She stayed on the phone with us until EMTs arrived. Sterling and Josh were great. Sterling was by my side the whole time. He and Frank held the blender wand steady while others bent the housing and eventually cut it open with wicked mini buzz saw. They were all responsive, respectful and good humored with me and my wife. I’m sorry we can’t remember all of your names but we’ll never forget you. Best Pam and Sara
Thanks to all of you for your help this morning! You were wonderful! Very professional and knowledgeable.
I was the first full time mechanic the District hired.
My office and maintenance bay was at station Six, it was District HQ at that time. I preformed all pump tests at that location until I left and moved to Steam Boat Springs to work in the Coal Mines.
It was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made, I should have stayed in Arvada with the Fire District and retired with a pension and health insurance. The mines never had any retirement benefits, in the long run I would have been much better off staying with the Fire District because of the benefits. Funny how the mines petered out in a few years and closedown totally because they didn’t have permits to mine anymore Coal. I left and went to work for Komatsu as a factory rep. for twenty years and then with Link Belt for many more years until I retired when I reached 65.
