  It is rare to run into someone that shares your level of passion and interest in hiking but I think we've found our hiking expert in Colorado. I was impressed by his attention to detail, friendliness and expertise when we were visiting for a week. Also, he tells me he was formerly a Chicago Open BJJ champion.....I never want to mess with this guy either! Thank you!

  I've been on several backpacking trips with Jeff and have known Jeff for over ten years now. Every time I've been on a trip with him, he has always taken the lead. This was welcomed because Jeff's preparation, attitude, and confidence inspired a relaxing and more adventurous trip. His enthusiasm made the trips fun, and his diligent preparations made the trips safe and practical. Jeff's personality and experience really sets him up to be a perfect backcountry guide. I highly recommend Jeff to be your guide; I promise you will not find a better guide.

  Let me tell you something about Jeff: He is a master of the outdoors in his own right. I thought I knew how to get around on a backpacking trip, but Jeff showed me the ropes properly. Our trip was to Linville Gorge, North Carolina in 2013 and it was an amazing experience. I was not well prepared, but Jeff surely was with all the right equipment and knowledge. Jeff knew how to navigate the back trails of the mountain landscape and set up camp each night in a well positioned area. By the end of the excursion, I was amazed I even had the opportunity to see such a beautiful remote area and it was all made possible with Jeff's skills. I would definitely go on another backpacking trip with Jeff and recommend him to anyone else looking for a fulfilling outdoors experience.

  I had the wonderful experience of hiring Jeff over the summer when I needed to get away for a little while, but I wasn't content with just sitting around in a hotel doing things I could do at home. I needed a new adventure and that's exactly what I got! I have never backpacked before, so I was nervous about doing it for the first time. But Jeff was so helpful in not only making sure I had what I needed, but he also took the time to make sure I understood as well, for my own future endeavors! Through the hike itself, he was also very patient and motivating (and a fun conversationalist) and I'm sure I don't have to say what a relief it was to have the gear already provided. Especially when you're someone who's just trying it out for the first time, like I was. Jeff was knowledgeable about the areas as well! I'd recommend this to anyone.

  Let me start off by saying I am in the Army, as an Infantryman, and I'm not a huge fan of hiking, spelunking, camping, etc outside of work - because I do it for work months throughout the year. This past month after getting back from a 9 month Korea tour, my wife and I wanted an alone outdoors adventure - by alone I mean without the 2 kids :). We found EXACTLY what we were looking for with Jeff and Lockwood Backcountry Guide Service. I wanted something somewhat challenging, rememberable, and energizing. I'm not a recreational hiker, and neither is my wife. But Jeff made it look easy, feel incredibly safe, and gave us an adventure that we'll talk about for years to come. It's exactly what we needed, and I'll be going back to Jeff next year or sooner for another adventure. Seriously fun!
