I transferred my brother’s care from Banner hospice to Accent because the level of care he was receiving at Banner was not even close to what he deserved or what I expected.
From the moment I placed my first call to Accent, the service was compassionate and professional. I didn’t have to wait for supplies or medication and when I needed to speak with an on-call nurse the process was fast and the nurses were obviously experienced. They were also kind and compassionate, and they all had great advice. If a doctor’s input was needed, there was always an on-call hospice physician available to the nurse and the communication back to me as the caregiver was expeditious.
The CNA assigned to my brother was amazing! She took great pride in helping my brother and maintaining his dignity. She was also very helpful in training me to care for him when she wasn’t at our home. Nothing was beneath her; her goal was providing the best care for my brother.
The social worker was very experienced and provided emotional support before I even knew I needed it. The chaplain was also very experienced and kind. He was straightforward with my brother, which I appreciated very much because I didn’t want my brother to have false hope about how long he would be here before passing.
The only complaint I have is the company Accent uses for supplying the bed sent a man that was inexperienced and the bed rails were not installed correctly. I made it work, but it was a little concerning to me from the perspective that I had to be on guard that my brother didn’t fall into the floor.
