I’m a real estate guy and it’s my job to know every store in town. 20/20 Optical is easily my favorite place to purchase frames and get my lens done. The owner, Eddie, is an outstanding individual whose knowledge about frames and their producers/production is unparalleled. Lovely guy. He’s a lot of fun to talk to while everyone else who works there is wonderful as well. Their service is exceptional. As for the selection, it’s not a massive store but they have precisely hand-picked their selection of frames and there is a wide variety... a lot of top brands and unique styles + materials. I must add that they are extremely fast because their lens are done in-house (and it’s top quality). If you are in the market for glasses or lens, do not hesitate to give them a visit.
I bought a pair of high end aviator sunglasses at 20/20 about six or seven years ago, and just love wearing them. As I've gotten older, I realize that I need my readers to access my text messages and email on my phone when I am out and about town or walking at the beach with my husband.
About a week ago I brought in several pairs of nice sunglasses that I had acquired over the last decade, and asked Eddie if he could put in polarized bifocals ("readers to me")! Three of the four pairs were done perfectly in less than a week; one pair of Prada sunglasses had unusually large lenses so while I know that Eddie worked hard on making them right for me - they unfortunately just did not work and made me dizzy when I tried to read my phone.
Eddy said no problem, I can fix another pair and will replace the large lenses that are polarized back in the Prada glasses. Eddie had actually replaced my old lenses on this pair with an upgraded polarized version just a couple of years ago and they were still like new - so it worked out even better than I had planned.
My experience over the years there has been that Eddie always goes the extra yard, and I highly recommend Eddie and his team. I enthusiastically encourage anyone with any eye glass questions to go in and ask them for a price and service comparison. I couldn't be happier with my new readers!
They were very nice when I was looking for new glasses. I had recently broken my 5 year old glasses, and when I went in they showed me a pair, and I was instantly in love. They understood how much I wanted them and they were nice enough to pay for my tax, so I would pay only $160 instead of $202. I am very thankful that he had let me negotiate a price so many times, and I highly recommend going there to get glasses. They might be expensive, but it is totally worth it and Its good to support this clearly nice and loving man.
This shop takes great care of the customer. I have bought or fixed glasses here many times and it is always a great experience. Recently, I had broken a pair of Oliver peoples I wanted to fix and 2020 got in touch with the company and within a few days I had brand new glasses in my hands. I highly recommend this store.
it's probably 25 years I have been a customer of 20/20 and Eddie Mamelok. I have had to wear glasses for almost 50 years now, and have known quite a good number of opticians over the years, and Eddie is one of the best, he really is. I knew another really good one some time ago, in New York City, but he died, an individual from France who had moved to New York by the name of Jean-Pierre a/k/a "JP" on 57th Street between Madison and Park. So, Eddie is the best one I know, in business today. He is careful and stands behind his work product, and makes the glasses process fun. If you have a strong or slightly complicated prescription, I would strongly recommend him - he does excellent work, and makes it kind of fun to deal with your glasses. I just got the most involved prescription I ever had to get (for years I have had the strongest prescription in the store, excepting a baby who was born with cataracts), and Eddie got me a darn nice pair of lenses, which he installed very nicely into a frame I had. Soon I will have to have an operation on my eyes, but until then, I have a super pair of glasses from 20/20. When you're dealing with the best, you can tell. He is the best.
