  This is by far the best vet we have ever been to. My pup has fear issues and it is absolutely painless to come here for her. They treat her like family and with all her health issues they completely understand. She has never had better care and we can’t thank Dr. D and team enough! I live 2 hours away and this is worth the drive to make sure my pup gets the best care possible.
  
  ***update the new food Dr Dee put Luna has been amazing! She is puppy again at 11 years old! My friends and family can’t believe how she has bounced back! I think she is a hardy rescue now at 11 and I’ve had her for 9 years but she wouldn’t be this healthy without the amazing care she gets. Also sorry Dr D she likes to hide in your office 😊

  There are not enough stars to light up for the amazing staff at birch island. We are new to Jacksonville from North Carolina and took our fur baby, Django to another vet and he was ridiculous. Our neighbor told us about birch island when I told her I was looking for a second opinion and they should have been my first and only choice. We ended up having to say good bye to our fur baby of 10 years that day, but the compassion and honestly and genuine heart that they showed me and my family was just what we needed. Not too long after we got a puppy to help heal our broken hearts and there was no question that Dr Dee was going to be the one and only to look after our new fur baby. You can google and find any animal hospital but they don’t rate in hearts which is the only value in my book. Thank you for comforting us and being by our side while we heal and start our new life w our Krypto. ❤️

  I recently had to put down one of our cats. Reilly had digestive issues for years with nothing working. We changed food several times and nothing seemed to work. We were running out of patience; with no answers to our dilemma. He seemed happy; but vomiting several times each day, bloody stools, etc had simply wore us down.
  It was a difficult decision for my husband especially. He is a devoted cat person. Having worked at a Humane Society in Michigan I was the person designated to take him in.
  I went in fully expecting to have someone try to talk me out of euthanasia; with suggestions for other treatments etc.
  Much to my surprise when the vet entered the room the first thing she said was “I’m not going to try to talk you out of this”. She had obtained Reilly’s records from our Michigan vet and clearly saw the problem.
  Everyone was so kind, caring, and showed concern, empathy, and genuine professionalism. I never felt any misgivings about what we had to do. I truly appreciated the empathy I was given.

  My Luna had a liter (9) of goldendoodles. This facility has been awesome. The Doctors, the staff, I just can’t say enough about how great they are. In fact, some of my puppies new parents will be continuing to take their new addition to their families to them too. The puppies had their 8 week check up today. The staff and Dr made it so smooth for me and the pups.

  Birch island certainly has quality in spades. My pups, Zelda (5 y) and Kirby (12 w), have tested out almost all services (veterinary, grooming, and boarding) and have been nothing but impressed each time in their professionalism and caring attitudes.
  
  Today I had a unique, unforgettable experience at Birch Island. As I was entering the vet dog entrance with Kirby in one arm and Zelda’s leash in the other, Zelda decided she was going to back out of her collar and take off running in to the parking lot and towards Philips highway. One of the front office staff quickly grabbed Kirby for me so I could take off after Zelda. I quickly realized I was aided in my pursuit by several techs, groomers, and other staff. I was amazed at these lovely people sprinting around in the heat to help catch my girl. Luckily, I finally was able to grab her by the super cute bandana she got from being groomed this same morning. The same groomer that did her mini makeover her this morning helped me carry her in to the building. I am so, so utterly grateful to the staff for helping me get her back, get her settled down during the appointment, and for caring for my puppy while this event occurred. I could never thank them enough.
  
  If you want a place that would drop everything to help you and your pup, this is the place. Here’s some pictures of my girl Zelda with her fresh trim from Birch island and a picture of Kirby because they’ve done an awesome job with his initial puppy visits.
