This is one of my favorite campgrounds. I would recommend this place to everyone but I don't put it out on social media. Being a Florida resident and not being able to get into a Florida State Park irritates me beyond belief. I personally believe that the State Parks should have a certain amount of campsites available to the residents of this State.
We found this hidden gem and absolutely love it.
I was reading some of the comments on here and they made me giggle.
* There's no fish out here. What?! There are 4 beautiful large lakes out here that are full of fish.
* There's no wildlife out here. Are you kidding me? There's deer everywhere. Gopher turtles, snakes, raccoons, coyotes, possums, all kinds of birds.
* There's no campsites available. Certain months are very popular. Plan ahead. I do know this, some people reserve sites and never show up. That's so unfair to campers that do want a site. How to curb that? No refunds.
* One thing that really bothers me is the trash thrown around throughout the park. My husband and I are constantly picking up trash. Let's keep this park beautiful.
Follow the rules. Don't ride your buggy through the creeks! Be respectful. We all want to enjoy this park. ⛺🎣🦌🦝🐢🐍🐺🦉🐦⬛🐊
Very quiet with awesome space, picnic tables and fire rings at the water/electric sites and many trails! Dump station is very convenient with water to flush tanks provided. Go birding, fishing, canoeing, hiking, or lust enjoy the sun and you will not be disappointed with this park. Downside for some is No Alcohol is allowed.
Awesome place to look for fossils, walk, hike, fish and even kayak (if you're not afraid of gators). We saw at least 12 gators in Lake Firefly while we were on the water. We even found some megalodon teeth pieces on our end of day walk around Hardee Lake (and what looks to be a fossilized claw of some kind - it's not flat like a tooth).
Very nice, clean, quite, peaceful and tranquil. Beautiful place and the man at the gate very nice. Signs visible at late night showing you where you need to go. Camped 2 nights at 21 dollars a night. You have showers, in the restroom. Clean. Handy cap access.
