Everyone is always there to help. Dr. Alber's passion for animals exudes from him as soon as he walks in to greet you and your fur baby. I cannot say enough good things about this facility and staff.
I was referred by a friend.
First contact phone call... Nicky was very helpful and caring, she answered all my questions, took her time to explain how to take care of my new pup. I can wait to meet the staff!!! Amazing first impression????????????
Absolutely amazing staff - friendly, helpful, and kind! Every person there cares so genuinely about every pet that comes in. There are no examination tables - the vet or tech will get right down on the floor and snuggle up with your furry friend to make sure they are comfortable during their visit! They are very attentive to any questions or concerns, and act as if your pet is a part of their family. I always receive a phone call from them after every visit, calling to check up on my puppy. I am so happy to have found this office!
I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Mike and his staff at Shey's Veterinary Hospital. My husband and I recently purchased a precious little toy poodle. She was seen and given a clean bill of health by the recommended veterinarian and was subsequently cleared for adoption. This vet had previously tested and treated her for intestinal parasites and had checked her for an apparent respiratory issue. This vet had also given her the first round of puppy vaccinations. We scheduled a visit with this vet’s office within 4 days after her adoption. The vet gave another fecal exam and listened to her breathing. We were told the fecal exam was negative and the respiratory issue was very common with puppies and was of no real concern.
Over the next 48 hours, it became apparent that we had a very sick little baby. She had become lethargic with coughing, sneezing, vomiting and diarrhea. It had become apparent that her health was rapidly deteriorating. After an exhausting online search for a vet with positive reviews, we found Dr. Mike at Shey's Veterinary Hospital. They were able to see us right away.
We were immediately impressed and felt we had made a good decision. The office was spotless and the staff was very knowledgeable and professional. Our puppy was never placed on the examination table, but rather when Dr. Mike came in the room, he held her in his arms, massaged her all over her while he carefully examined her. The diagnosis found that she DID have intestinal parasites along with a severe upper respiratory infection. Honestly, at 2.5 pounds, I didn't know if she was going to make it. Dr. Mike and his AWESOME staff gave an ACCURATE diagnosis. Effective meds were prescribed and consequently our puppy’s health rapidly improved over the next 48 hours.
Dr. Mike has such a sweet, caring and compassionate disposition. He took the time to answer all our questions while loving on our puppy. It spoke volumes to me that Dr. Mike named his animal practice after his own beloved dog. The way he and our puppy looked at one another while he was examining her let me know they were communicating with one another. Suffice it to say I look forward to many years of a wonderful relationship with what I believe is the best vet I've encountered in the last 20 plus years since leaving N.C.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Mike, Stephanie and staff, for turning our tragically sick little girl into a now healthy and happy one!!!
My new favorite vet! Dr. Mike is very knowledgeable and friendly. And they are so reasonable on prices, and you don't wait forever to be seen. My dog had 17 teeth taken out today and it cost less than a different vet bill from a year ago when they only took out 7. And they can get you in for appointments quickly without having to pay an "emergency upcharge". I also like that they are paperless. Saves on trees. Highly recommend!
