My wife and I rented a double kayak from Mad Beach today — we had an overall good experience!
The sandbar near John’s Pass is a short 30 to 35-minute kayak away. We saw four dolphins jumping in and out of the water while we were out there.
Only issue we had was finding the place. The entrance is right before Waffle House if you are facing John’s Pass. A bigger sign towards the road could be useful!
Mad Beach Paddlesports is a great place to rent paddle boards or other water sports. The prices are awesome and the staff is very friendly!
In March 2021 we rented bikes for a few days, and took a guided paddleboard (me) and kayak (husband) tour through Mad Beach Paddlesports. Our bikes were dropped off and picked up at our Treasure Island condo. Barrie worked with us to plan the water tour based on tides and the weather forecast. The timing was perfect! We got to relax for a while on a sandbar, paddle under mangroves, and see a pod of dolphins. Symphony was the best tour guide we’ve ever had! She was so personable and made us feel really comfortable on the water. For great customer service, I would definitely recommend Mad Beach Paddlesports. And ask for Symphony if you are going to take a SUP or kayak tour.
As someone who's lived coastally and been proactive in nautical activities for nearly 8 years now, I'd say Mad Beach Paddlesports is as good as it gets for marine recreational rentals. Customer service is absolutely top notch and they're very friendly and accomodating
Today we took our family on the guided tour and had a great time! Barrie was wonderful with us having young kids!!! It took us a little longer to get there and back, but didn't seem to bother her any. We were able to stop at a sandbar, look for shells, and even saw a dolphin on the way back in!! At the end the kids got a little surprise. We will definitely be returning the next time we are in town.
