Oscar Scherer State Park

Spent the month of November 2022, as camp hosts. Great place, lots of trails, canoe or kayak rental available when there is no hurricane or red tide. Five restrooms with showers, in the large campground always clean. A couple credit card laundry facilities for $2 a load. A couple lakes, one for swimming. A couple playgrounds for children one in campground, along with picnic tables and shelters. Garbage receptacles at entrance of the campground and water areas that racoons like to get in.

A great park for shorter walking trails in a quiet environment. The kayak rental is the best value for money we found in the area, and the staff were knowledgeable and safety conscious whilst letting you get on with your own adventure. Great place for families to explore.

Great park! Surrounded by Nature, fishing, fishing, canoeing, great bike trails, and picnic areas. Clean facilities. Just a great experience. Everything you could want, as soon as you hit the gates into town. Stores and ⛱️ beaches, lots to do, or do nothing.

Unfortunately I didn't get to explore the trails much. The trail I did walk didn't offer much shade. Even on a sunny day in FEBRUARY that meant much sweat and hydration. Don't forget your H2O! I was here for an orienteering event and the park appeared perfect for such competition. I hear the campgrounds are great and if you like birdwatching, this is the place to be. The very busy biking trail reminded me of standing by an interstate as bicyclists were zooming by left and right. Other than that I feel every State Park is worth supporting and visiting.
