Twelve Mile Swamp Conservation Area

Nice quiet, flat walk along a two track. Just follow the white diamonds painted on the trees. Only a couple cars in the lot. Lots of deer tracks, but no sightings. Several small ponds along the road about half way around. Took us 1.5 hours taking our time, looking through binoculars. Lots of sun at noon time. February 2020.

I've been going to this trail for a long time. It's a great trail with even ground and lots of trees. Unfortunately, they've begun to log the area and have started to tear it down. This is so sad, because it used to be a untouched trail. In 3 months they've torn it up. I can only imagine a year. Supposed to be a protected area, not too many left. Leave the forests alone.

This conservation area provides a very enjoyable nature walk; however, don't expect to see a lot of wild life. There are two trails - one off of State Route 16 that is less than a mile long and one off of International Golf Parkway near US 1 that is 2.8 miles long. The longer trail is a nicer walk and a bit more scenic. The highway is not far away and, at times, you can hear the traffic; however, it is mostly a very quiet and peaceful walk.
